Inspired by the ancient process of cartography, the location of the residence being on the cusp of Sydney’s Central Business District – where busy transit converges in all directions, saw us take this idea and detail the interior objects to act as individual pieces. When curated these pieces act to form a grid, achieving ultimate linear perspective, guiding the human eye. A map in its essence, has no vocabulary, no lexicon of precise meanings. It communicates in lines, hues, tones, coded symbols, and empty spaces, much like music. This is conveyed within the interior of this private residence where a formal living room onlooking the Sydney Harbour Bridge motorway sees a wave of coloured lines repeat in patterns from day to night. Therefore, within the interior creating directional lines within the custom joinery elements, rugs, woven furniture upholstery and detailed lines.
