Nouveau Réalisme

Subverting traditional yacht design, the 54-metre Baglietto Superyacht, Mischief, was reimagined breaking down the historical conventions of maritime interiors. Traditional navy blue is reimagined through the striking lens of Yves Klein’s ultramarine blue. The austere Asian timber interior was shrouded in white lacquer and marble, creating a new canvas for the colour scheme that shifts the typical blue and white interior aesthetic into a more contemporary and artistic space. Alike the philosophies of Yves Klein and Mark Rothko, the power of colour proves to evoke an emotional response from its viewer and the specific blue tone used induces both excitement and relaxation. “Blue has no dimensions; it is beyond dimensions, whereas the other colours are not… All colours arouse specific associative ideas… while blue suggests at most the sea and sky, and they, after all, are in actual, visible nature what is most abstract”. (Yves Klein)
